Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is the oldest and largest Spanish technical university, with more than 3.000 faculty members, around 38.000 undergraduate students and 6.000 postgraduates in 21 Schools of study. The group is belonging to the Center For Biomedical Technology and the CLUPM (Laser Centre) both research establishments form the UPM. The group expertise lies in photonics, biophotonics, optical metrology and characterization, micro-nano fabrication by means of several lithographic techniques. The group has extensive experience in complete R&D loops, from theoretical simulation to fabrication & characterization to transfer the technology to industry. Especially significant is the experience in Biophotonics, where the group has published in top ranked international journals and produced several patents applications and participated in projects technologically connected with Enviguard: PHODYE [6FP-STREP-IST- 033793: Photonic Systems on a Chip Based on Dyes for Sensor Applications], SABIO [STREP-FP6-IST-026554: Ultrahigh sensitivity Slot-waveguide BIOsensor on a highly integrated chip for simultaneous diagnosis of multiple diseases] among others.
